How to Protect Your Car From Road Salt This Winter
From around November the gritters are out across Lanarkshire, and every drive leaves a salty film on the lower half of your car. Salt is corrosive. Left on the car for weeks at a time, it dulls the paint, pits the wheels and gets to work on anything metal underneath.
Protect before winter, not during it
Protection has to go onto clean, decontaminated paint, and that is much easier to do in autumn than in the middle of January. A full valet or deep clean now takes off the summer's traffic film and fallout, then a sealant goes on. After that, salt and grime rinse off instead of sticking.

Keep it up through the winter
